Buxton Civic Association
The Civic Association's chief role is to protect the unique heritage of our town and the woodlands around it. Founded in 1968 when the Pavillion Gardens was threatened with closure, we have since helped to restore Solomon's Temple, encouraged good design through planning awards, and much more.
Members are brought together through affection for Buxton and concern to preserve its best characteristics for future generations.
We differ from the many Civic Associations throughout Britain in that we own Poole's Cavern and 200 acres of woodlands in and around the town: Grinlow (Buxton Country Park), Corbar, Gadley, Sherbrook, Hogshaw Woods and several smaller ones. This brings huge responsibilities, expenses and hard work!
YOUR MEMBERSHIP ENTITLES YOU TO:
- Free entry to Poole's Cavern on production of a current membership card.
- A quarterly newsletter with details of guided walks, talks and social events, and a membership pack.
- The satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to care for some of Buxton's most enduring and precious assets.
